Everybody loves David Beckham. He can take a perfect free kick, influenced the hairstyles of teenagers around the world and made your mother happy by running around in his underwear for H&M. However, the man who was once referred to as “Golden Balls” has starred in some remarkably shit commercials in his career. Here are the 5 most awkward ones I could find.
1. “I have all I need.”
David Beckham can do two things well: he can kick a football, and he can inseminate women just by taking off his shirt. This video advertising his latest cologne ‘Classic’ shows him doing one of those two things, but also has him doing something which he is very much incapable of: acting. Becks has one line in this commercial, and manages to read it with all the enthusiasm of a sat-nav.
2. Wild Wild West
And here’s Beckham doing his best Clint Eastwood impression in this old Pepsi commercial, if Clint Eastwood sounded less like he spent his time in smoky bars punching men in the face, and more like he’d just returned from a pedicure with his girlfriends.
3. Smooth.
World-class athletes probably don’t go to Burger King, especially if this kind of awkward exchange is what they receive when they get there.
4. Becks goes Medieval
We’re not sure what Pepsi’s obsession was with dressing footballers up in period costumes, but here Beckham is again, kicking a ball around and drinking the delicious, cholesterol-baiting drink whilst kitted out like a metrosexual Viking.
5. Impossible is nothing, apparently.
