Although “Doctor Who” won’t be returning for its seventh season until later this year, the Doctor and Amy are already back in action.
As part of an annual Script To Screen competition to encourage creativity, school children across the United Kingdom were invited to write their own short “Doctor Who” scripts, with the winning script to be filmed by the BBC with Matt Smith and Karen Gillan both appearing as the Doctor and Amy Pond, respectively.
This year’s winners (via Doctor Who News) are Rebecca, Emily, and Libby (no family names were given in the announcement) from Ashdene Primary School in Wilmslow. The three girls are pictured above with Smith and Gillan as they visited the TARDIS set for the filming of their script, “Good as Gold.” “Doctor Who” showrunner Steven Moffat and executive producer Caroline Skinner picked “Good as Gold” from this year’s scripts alongside BBC Learning executive producer, Katy Jones.
“We loved reading all of the scripts from schools across the UK and the standard of entries was truly outstanding,” said Jones. “It was a difficult, but a tremendously fun task to choose a winner and it was just brilliant to see so many children being creative in developing an adventure for the Doctor. We hope all fans enjoy this special one-off mini episode!”
The episode debuted earlier today on CBCC. And Doctor Who TV has helpfully added it to Youtube so that everyone can see it.
