Several months ago, Showtime placed Stephen King’s novel “Under The Dome” into development as a potential TV series. And it’s not the only novel adaptation on the network’s development slate.
According to Deadline, Showtime has preemptively swooped up the rights to Seth Greenland’s upcoming novel, “The Angry Buddhist;” which won’t even be released in the U.S. for another week.
“The Angry Buddhist” follows three brothers: one of whom is a cop studying Buddhism, another is an incumbent Congressman fighting for reelection and the third brother is a career criminal. As the novel progresses, the three brothers are drawn into a murder which has consequences that reverberate for all of them.
Greenland will write the pilot script for “The Angry Buddhist;” while also serving as an executive producer alongside David Kanter. Greenland was previously a writer on “Arli$$” and “Big Love” for HBO, in addition to scripting the films “Who’s The Man?” and “My Teacher’s Wife.”
Both of Greenland’s previous novels, “The Bones” and “Shining City” have been optioned by Sony and Warner Brothers, respectively.
“The Angry Buddhist” will be released in bookstores on Tuesday, April 24.
