‘True Blood’ Season 5 Teaser

At the end of the third season of “True Blood,” Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) teamed up to defeat the Vampire King of Mississippi, Russell Edgington (Denis O’Hare) before burying him alive in concrete.

But leaving Russell alive may have been a huge mistake, because at the end of season four, Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello) discovered that someone has freed Russell from his prison. And it’s highly doubtful that Russell won’t seek his revenge on Bill and Eric. He’s probably also going to want vengeance on Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) too, since she poured the remains of his lover down a garbage disposal.

Last night, HBO debuted the first teaser trailer for “True Blood” Season 5. And while it didn’t contain any new footage from the upcoming season, it does seem to heavily hint that Russell Eddington will be one of the main adversaries once again. Because in Bon Temps, nothing stays buried forever…

During a recent interview with Sci Fi Now magazine, O’Hare stated “I’m not going to come back to ‘True Blood’ until mid-March. I had a meeting with Alan Ball last week, and they have devised an amazing trick to allow me to be present, but not fully acting.” Because “True Blood” began filming the new season late last year, this may mean that Russell won’t appear directly until the end of the season. Or it could also mean that O’Hare will shoot all of his scenes in a short span of time to be interspersed throughout the season.

Another returning character is anti-vampire Reverend Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian), who showed up on Jason Stackhouse’s (Ryan Kwanten) doorstep with a new set of fangs. “True Blood” has also added several new cast members this season, including Chris Meloni (“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”), Christopher Heyerdahl (“Hell on Wheels”), Kelly Overton (“The Ring Two”), Louis Herthum (“The Last Exorsism”), Lucy Griffiths (“Robin Hood”) and Valentina Cervi (“Zen”).

“True Blood” Season 5 will premiere this summer, only on HBO!
