One of the bigger points of contention as The Dark Knight Rises set pictures have sprung up all over the internet is the costume design. Some folks think Bane looks like a hobo. Many people thing Catwoman looks nothing like… Well, Catwoman. () Well, two new behind the scenes shots of Anne Hathaway in costume are likely to put those complaints to rest… and possibly generate some new ones. Because guys… She looks like Catwoman from the old 1960’s Adam West Batman show.
Tiny domino mask, cat ears, black body suit, high-heeled shoes. This is Julie Newmar, Lee Merriweather and Eartha Kitt territory. Now, we’re actually okay with that since she looks pretty good (although the high heels are certainly impractical), but the general fanboy disdain for the campy original television series just might raise some red flags for those concerned about the direction Christopher Nolan is going with The Dark Knight Rises. It’s hardly nipples on the bat suit, obviously, but it’s still not the Darwyn Cooke design so many of us were hoping for.
