As fans are aware, Chad Duell announced his exit from the series on his Instagram explaining it was the right time to leave the show. In his interview at Daily Drama Podcast, the actor offered details on his departure citing personal reasons.
The recent episodes witnessed a tragic turn for Michael’s character shaping up the exit for Duell. Michael is shown disturbed in the series by his broken relationship with his wife Willow. He ended up handing over the divorce papers to Willow.
Soon, things went upside down when Sonny’s penthouse caught fire. Michael, who was present at the place was engulfed in the flames. However, he is rescued by Jason Morgan and is taken to a recovery clinic after suffering serious burns on his body.
While Micheal’s death is not confirmed, fans began speculating about the character’s recast in the show. Many felt that he might return with a new face after recovering from his injuries especially when a lot is going on in his personal life. However, executive producer Frank Valentini confirmed on his X in November 2024 that they have no plans to recast Micheal. He also said, ”There are no plans to recast his role at this time, but you never know in daytime. I can promise a great story for Michael and his family when Chad exits in the new year.”
Additionally, Duell did not rule out the possibility of his return in the future in his interview. Nevertheless, it is up to the makers on what they have planned for Michael’s character’ in General Hospital.
