You may have seen a rumor claiming that Donald Trump canceled an appearance on Hawk Tuah Girl Haliey Welch’s Talk Tuah podcast. Allegedly, the recent assassination scare forced the Republican presidential candidate to change his plans. There’s even an alleged screencap of an article from a reputable news agency going around. However, despite being completely believable in today’s political environment, it’s just a meme.
Did Donald Trump cancel an appearance on the Hawk Tuah Girl’s Talk Tuah podcast?
There’s no evidence that Donald Trump ever agreed to be on the Talk Tuah podcast. The viral screenshot of the NPR story claiming he canceled a planned appearance was doctored. Unfortunately, the account that posted the image didn’t make it clear that it was fake, leading many to believe the article was genuine.
The fake image caption states, “Viral Sensation Haliey Welch of “Hawk Tuah” Fame’s “Talk Tuah” Podcast was previously set, as a request of Donald Trump’s son Barron, to have Trump as a guest on September 17, 2024.
We can only assume that the person who created the meme thought the situation was too ridiculous for viewers to take seriously. A presidential candidate going on a podcast created by a girl made famous for making a joke about spitting on a man’s private parts should be unthinkable. However, in today’s political climate, where candidates will do or say whatever they think will get them elected, we wouldn’t have been shocked in the least if this story was true.
Perhaps the meme gained so much traction because it taps into the absurdity of modern politics, where seemingly nothing is off the table. With Trump lacking celebrity endorsements and the rise of viral internet personalities, the idea of him guesting on such a podcast almost feels plausible, even though it didn’t (and likely will never) happen.
