7-Year-Old Girl Shocks Priest by Pounding Wine at First Communion, First Power Hour to Follow

Due to the nature of their jobs, men of the cloth see and hear a lot of shocking things. So you’d think nothing could rattle them anymore. Not true of one priest who was scandalized by one of his church members’ ability to slug back some communion wine. Why was he so surprised? Because she’s only 7 years old.

The vino-chugging incident in question happened during a First Communion ceremony in South Dakota. A little girl named Brynley Heidebrink, who was all decked out in white lace for the occasion, reached for the chalice filled with the consecrated wine otherwise known as the blood of Christ. She started off with a humble sip, but then kept drinking, much to the priest’s shock and awe. After swallowing a sinful amount of Jesus juice, she folded her hands and angelically walked back to her seat.

“My daughter slamming her 1st communion wine,” the girl’s mom, Stefanie Heidebrink, captioned the booze-guzzling video, which immediately went viral.

Later, Heidebrink told the Argus Leader that she tried to coach her daughter on how much wine to drink beforehand.

“I said, ‘Just let it touch your lips, just tip it back,'” Heidebrink said. “You don’t even have to take a sip.”

Brynley obviously didn’t take Mom’s advice to heart. So afterward, Heidebrink tried figure out why her daughter downed the wine like that.

“I said, ‘Well, why did you keep drinking?’ And she’s like, ‘I don’t know.’ I’m like, ‘Well, did you like the taste?’ And she goes, ‘No.'”

That sounds a lot like our internal monologue after a night of too much booze!

We don’t know if Brynley will make a good Catholic, but she is going to kill it at Power Hour.
