There have been a lot of casualties during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. We aren’t just talking human lives (though of course, that’s the most atrocious part of this situation). We’re talking about all the businesses that have had to close and all the restrictions war has put on the regular lives of people in both countries involved in the conflict.
One such example is a recent ban on Instagram that Putin put into effect. Days after the Kremlin claimed the social media site was causing an “incitement of violence against Russians,” Instagram went dark in Russia.
Instagrammers were (understandably?) upset at the news. Before their accounts were restricted, they took to the photo and video sharing platform to share their feelings about all this – and no surprise, tears were involved.
“I am not afraid of admitting that I do not want to lose you,” 36-year-old Russian reality TV star Olga Buzova confessed to her 23.3 million followers in a seven-minute sob fest. “I do not know what the future holds. I don’t know. I just shared my life, my work, and my soul. I did not do this all as a job for me — this is a part of my soul. It feels like a big part of my heart and my life is being taken away from me.”
An unidentified Russian beauty blogger also posted a video of herself weeping over the ban – which news channel Nexta TV was quick to repost and criticize on its Twitter account.
“She does not care at all about the thousands of dead people, including her compatriots,” the news channel opined. “Obviously, her biggest worry right now is that she won’t be able to post pictures of food from restaurants.”

“To me, it’s all life. It’s the soul. It’s the one thing with which I wake up, fall asleep. F–king five years in a row,” she said in Russian between tears.
While we don’t feel sorry for these young ladies, we would certainly miss the sexy Insta content we’re used to ogling on the regular if this happened in the U.S. What we don’t understand is why Putin doesn’t see the benefit of letting the girls have their fun. Doesn’t he enjoy seeing a bikini babe eat pizza just as much as we do?
