Viral TikToker Reveals You’ve Been Using the Cherries Emoji All Wrong

Emojis are not always what they seem. Though the animated symbols seem simple enough to interpret, we frequently find we’re translating them all wrong. A TikToker who goes by the handle @genwhyscarlett, for example, is totally blowing our minds, especially when it comes to the cherries emoji.

Her real name is Scarlett Alexandra, and she’s a student at Savannah College of Art and Design. She lives in a dorm with many Gen Zers, and has therefore learned a thing or two about life in the digital age.

In a now-viral video, the millennial writer-comedian explains that many of your favorite emojis probably mean something wildly different than what you thought they did.

Among her revelations, the thumbs-up emoji is considered passive-aggressive, this confused-looking face acutally means horny, and the cherries emoji? It’s a visual euphemism for “titties”!

Well, well, well. And here we thought it meant…um…cherries? Guess we’ve been texting, “Life’s a bowl full of titties” all this time. Sigh.
