A Japanese macaque recently went viral for monkeying around. The hairy little primate lives at Chapultepec Zoo in Mexico City and was visited by a novice magician named Maximiliano Ibarra. Ibarra made a leaf “disappear,” then reappear, blowing the simian’s mind.
When the leaf “vanished,” the monkey’s jaw dropped and it ran to the opposite side of its cage. When the leaf rematerialized, it looked side to side, as if to say, “Whoa, did anybody else see that?!” and then ran back to the corner of its cage, mouth agape, almost slapping itself in disbelief.
When Ibarra repeated the trick, the monkey totally lost its shit.
