It’s the end of an era. Today, BlackBerry phones went offline forever.
“WTF is a BlackBerry?” you’re probably wondering…and we don’t blame you. The cell phones with a real keyboard peaked almost 10 years ago. There hasn’t been an operating system update since 2013 and the brand hasn’t been a player in the cell phone business since around 2016.
Still, fans of the dinosaur devices are mourning the fact that their favorite phones no longer function. They were once in the hands of 80 million users and were status symbols for everyone from Wall Street bros to celebrities like Kim Kardashian to politicos like former President Barack Obama. Then the iPhone came and obliterated the BlackBerry’s popularity.
