Meanwhile in China: Fossils of Penis Worms Found (And They Appear to Be Uncircumcised)

Usually, when we hear about fossils, we think of dinosaurs. But recently-discovered fossils in the Yunnan province in southern China have emerged, indicating that long ago and far away, creatures known as “penis worms” roamed the sea.

“Eximipriapulus,” as they’re scientifically known, were not, um, well-hung, however. They measured only 1 to 2 centimeters long and were the width of a string. These phallic-shaped beings hid in empty shells as a form of self-defense against predators.

Though they haven’t been around for 500 million years or so – since the Cambrian Period – their essence lives on in the modern-day hermit crab.

We’ve gotta say, Mother Nature sure does have a sense of humor. From penis worms to penis plants, she loves to poke fun at pricks in all sorts of unique, inventive ways.
