Being able to laugh at yourself is a good trait to possess, especially if you’re a comedian…or have bad fashion sense. Pete Davidson embodies all those things, and that’s why he continues to make us laugh.
In case you missed it, the King of Staten Island star recently roasted himself, and his 2021 Met Gala fashion disaster, on SNL. The Thom Browne ensemble consisted of a black dress, white mackintosh overcoat, mismatched socks, lace-up boots, and sunglasses. As he described it, “I look like Tilda Swinton on casual Friday.”
“I don’t know why (people were commenting on my outfit). That’s a cool dress. I look like James Bond at his quinceañera. I look like if one of the three blind mice sold fentanyl,” the 27-year-old actor joked with “Weekend Update” co-host Colin Jost.
“The truth is I already wear a dress and paint my nails sometimes just because I love making my uncles uncomfortable,” he continued. “When my Uncle Steve saw it, he was like, ‘Hey I don’t get it, but whatever makes you happy. You’re still welcome in my house, I’ll just put the seat down when you’re over.”
We have to agree on all counts there, Pete. That was one ugly-ass outfit that never should have seen the light of day. But at least it produced a solid comedic set that got us all laughing – at you and with you.
