You often hear people say that a beer is going to taste good when they get home because their workday has been a difficult one. Well, if that’s the case, then only a bottle of the finest Scotch would have done the job for Hurst Police Officer Travis Hiser earlier this month.

According to the New York Post, Hiser and his partner responded to the scene of a vehicle that had crashed into a house on April 7. As you’ll see in the video below, if they would have arrived just seconds earlier, we’d be writing a different story.

Yeah, go ahead and tell the boss that I’m taking the rest of the day off. Thanks.

Nobody was more thankful that things turned out the way they did than Hiser, who said that there was definitely a “higher power” involved in saving his life.

“There was definitely some divine intervention that was reaching down and slowing those vehicles down from making the scene and then taking a finger and pushing me away from the house and the path that I went,” Hiser said. “Otherwise, I would have been up on the wall and it would have exploded completely into my face.”

The driver who crashed into the house didn’t have a license, and something tells us that he should be expecting the maximum penalty this time around.
