I once got fired from a fast food restaurant in Wisconsin because the manager said I was “too much of a dick” to my coworkers, and he may have been right because I was nailing his wife at the time, but this story is just a tad different than that one.
According to The Takeout, a French waiter who used to work at Milestones Restaurant in Vancouver says he is no longer employed there because of his direct, honest personality.
Or in other words, he was fired for being “too French.”
Milestones management claims that it was Guillaume Rey’s “aggressive tone and nature” with his coworkers that got him canned, but Rey says that’s not the case, In fact, he says he “received praise from customers” and was nothing but “direct, honest and professional” with everybody else who worked at the restaurant. That is why he has filed a complaint at the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal against the restaurant and its parent company, Cara Operations.

Rey hopes his claims that “he was being terminated because of his French culture,” which “tends to be more direct and expressive,” will eventually be validated by the committee. In the meantime, our suggestion is that he tries to be “too Irish” with his time off, which of course means that he would be living life to its fullest if he took our advice.
