While anybody who has the option to eat elsewhere should choose not to stuff their face with anything McDonald’s serve, the fact of the matter is that there are a lot of homeless people who would gladly eat there simply to get one meal. And that’s why a man named Yossi Gallo decided to bring a homeless man inside a McDonald’s located at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in order to buy him food. Well, it seems staff at the restaurant weren’t fans of that deed.
“I waved him down, and I said, ‘Hey, are you hungry?’ and he said, ‘Yes,’” Gallo said in an interview with WMBF News. “So I went in there with him, and as soon as we went inside, the lady at the register says, ‘You’re not getting food.’ She tells him he’s not getting food.”
Things got so nuts that police were called. And that’s when Gallo started to film. Take a look at the video that Gallo shared on his Facebook.
As you can see in the video above, the police officer ask the homeless man to leave even while he’s eating his food. Gallo tries to standup for him but is told to keep calm by the manager. Eventually the homeless man and Gallo are removed from the restaurant and issued a trespass warning. Absurd.
Myrtle Beach police Capt. Joey Crosby said via email with WMBF that the officer went to the restaurant after an employee called to report a man asking for money in the parking lot. Both Gallo and the homeless man vehemently deny that accusation in the recorded video.
“The officer advised the male of the request made by the business and issued the warning,” Crosby said. “A bystander, who was videotaping the incident, was also trespassed from the location, at the request of the manager, for what management deemed as disorderly behavior.”
Joel Pellicci Jr., the owner of the McDonald’s, said in a statement to WMBF that this has been an ongoing problem:
“At my restaurant, the goal is to provide our customers with a positive and welcoming experience each time they visit. Unfortunately, the individual in this video has a history of disruptive behavior and has been asked to leave by management and police on several occasions.”
While people are rightfully bashing McDonald’s, Gallo does not want people to bash the police officer as he’s noticed people are even sharing her information. Here’s what Gallo had to say:
“I think that’s completely wrong. Completely wrong. I do believe that she was doing her job. I do believe that she was doing her job. She did nothing wrong. I don’t have any anger towards her in any way.
She was very polite. She was doing her job. I wouldn’t want anyone to speak badly of her. She was very nice, actually.”
