The Worst Police Sketch You’ll Ever See Actually Resembles The Suspect

Remember that time we told you about that ridiculous police sketch of an attempted kidnapper? Well that’s nothing compared to the police sketch in this story.

Before police were able to issue an arrest warrant on a person who was pretending to be a vendor so he could steal money from a stand at a market, they first needed a police sketch of the suspect. And after speaking to a witness, this sketch is what they actually came up with. And yes, this is absolutely real:

And this is where it gets even stranger: this garbage sketch actually led to an arrest warrant being issued for a 44-year-old man named Hung Phuoc Nguyen. And while Nguyen remains on the run, he actually looks just like the sketch that people were so quick to mock.

Pretty damn accurate. Before Nguyen was identified, here’s what Lancaster City Police had to say:

“We released all of those details together in our police log in the hope that someone recognizes the suspect. This was not done in jest. While the sketch provided by the witness may have appeared amateurish and cartoonish, it, along with the distinctive physical descriptors, jogged the memory of at least one investigator to provide a potential suspect name.”

Well, at least it sort of worked. When Nguyen is eventually caught he will be charged with two counts of theft.

No word yet if the sketch artist will be given a promotion.
