While I’m not the smartest guy out there, I do know this: don’t handle a live grenade unless you’re playing a video game. Or unless you’re in the military and in an actual war. And why shouldn’t you handle a live grenade? It’s common sense, but I’ll tell you anyway: it may explode right in your hand.

A 26-year-old Russian man named Alexander Chechik actually killed himself by accident when he decided to unpin a live grenade for a selfie. According to police, Chechik sent images of himself with the grenade, with the pin taken out, to friends. According  to Chechik’s friends, Chechik did not want to kill himself and was simply showing off the grenade. And clearly that was a mistake.

A friend had earlier texted: “Where are you? Are you ok?”, to which he responded: “Depends on what ok is in your understanding?” He then sent an image of the grenade, to which the friend replied “Listen, don’t do stupid things. Where are you?”

It is reported that the police think that Alexander – known as Sasha – thought that the grenade would not explode unless he threw it. The number of photographs that he sent to other friends without any obvious intentions to kill himself suggests that he was showing off rather than attempting seriously to end his own life.

The Russian Investigative Committee is now looking into the incident.

So kids, since it’s easy to get weapons in America, if you get your hands on a grenade, just…you know what, just don’t ever get your hands on a grenade. That’s the best advice I can give you.
