I’m assuming that there are rules in the theft game that are very similar to those in Fight Club, except the first rule for breaking into a car has to be something along the lines of making sure there are not two police officers sitting in the front seat of it.
Well, according to the New York Daily News, a 49-year-old Florida man recently learned the hard way that not abiding by that rule can have catastrophic consequences, as the car he attempted to break into in New Port Richey last Wednesday wound up being an unmarked squad car belonging to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office’s Strategic Targeted Area Response unit with two deputies sitting inside.

Police said Stephen Titland was arrested shortly after that boner move and charged with “attempted burglary, loitering and prowling, auto burglary and violating his probation after a previous burglary conviction.” He is also the chief suspect in a string of car break-ins the night before in Trinity Oaks.
If you ask me, with a last name like Titland, it sounds like this guy has totally dicked up his calling to be the CEO of a chain of strip clubs in the Greater Tampa area.
