It’s hard to believe there are still people who think the world is flat, but if 2017 has taught us anything, it’s that you shouldn’t be surprised loony people exist and walk among us every day.

The latest from the world of batshit crazy is a guy who not only believes the world isn’t round, but he’s out to prove it with a rocket ship he put together in his spare time when he wasn’t busy being a limo driver.

Guy Builds Homemade Rocket To Prove Earth Is Flat

Yes, you read that right. This limo driver believes there’s no difference between science and science fiction, and he’s going to launch himself into the atmosphere — atmosflat? — to prove all you scientific morons wrong.

Mike Hughes is 61-year-old man who told The Associated Press that he put together a steam-powered rocket using spare parts in his garage. Over the course of the last few years, he’s spent $20,000 putting this thing together, which sounds like a wise and not at all stupid investment.

“I don’t believe in science,” Hughes said in an interview with the AP. “I know about aerodynamics and fluid dynamics and how things move through the air, about the certain size of rocket nozzles, and thrust. But that’s not science, that’s just a formula. There’s no difference between science and science fiction.”

OK, buddy.

Hughes is set to fly his rocket on Saturday. He hopes the launch sets him up for a subsequent flight that will put him high enough to take pictures of how Earth is just a flat disc, and show that scientists are just evil monsters who lie to you about round things.

Hughes isn’t totally crazy, though. He gave his four cats enough food to last them a while just in case anything goes wrong during his flight. Good luck, Mike. Something tells me you’re going to need it.

Hey, at least he’s not trying to get people to donate to the “cause” like some people: Rapper B.o.B Needs $200k Of Your Money To Prove That The Earth Is Flat
