Let’s all meet Jennifer Kine. Kline is a 51-year-old woman who back in 1989 was crowned the winner of the Mrs. America pageant. Well fast-forward almost 30 years later and Kline has been found guilty of a scheme that allowed her to steal thousands of dollars from a Macy’s in Minnesota.

Here’s how the elaborate scheme took place. Kline first spent over $5,500 at a Macy’s and charged it all on a credit card. From there the former beauty queen then removed all the tags from the clothing and put them on items she already owned before bringing them back to the Macy’s. And guess what? Kline received a $5,501 refund all from her previously worn clothes. But unfortunately for Kline a store detective reported her when he discovered her ruse. That’s right, her ruse.

“Several of the clothing items returned to Macy’s were dirty and showed signs of wear,” an investigator wrote in a complaint.

Eventually Kline did admit to having a supply of plastic tag holders as well as the equipment to attach them to clothing. Wow, this woman was prepared. But according to Kline’s attorney what went down was a mistake and shifted the blame to Macy’s for its easy return policy. Putting tags on previously own clothes isn’t a mistake, buddy.

Kline is now facing up to five years in prison. Well, maybe she can hold a beauty pageant from behind bars.
