When we aren’t making you laugh with our batch of Funny Photos we are telling you all about the latest teacher scandal — and boy are there a lot of them every week it seems. This time around we are focusing on Emily Lofing.
The 27-year-old married Nebraska teacher was finally sentenced in court after it was discovered that she had sex with a 16-year-old on his birthday. Oh, and it occurred after bible school. Lord Jesus.
The sexual encounter happened last July – just over two years after she tied the knot with her partner in June 2014.
At the time of the alleged offenses, the teacher was working at a school in Weeping Water, Nebraska, where the teen was a student. But because the young man was 16 and could legally consent to sex, the prosecutor said debauching a minor was the toughest charge he could file.
She moved to teach English at Nebraska City Middle School before being reported to police.
While Lofing’s lawyer tried to express to the judge that Lofing had a history of depression and she had a mental illness, it wasn’t enough to keep Lofing from prison as the judge sentenced her to just 90 days and ordered her to 240 hours of community service. Oh, and just two years of probation. A pretty pathetic sentence.

Here’s what Judge John Steinheider had to say:
“You send kids to school, to day care, to Bible school … and you expect them to be treated with respect and be in safe places and you took that away from at least the victim in this instance.”
Lofing was charged with misdemeanor debauching a minor and pleaded no contest. Lofing, with good behavior, could end up spending even less time behind bars.
