So what’s worse than having to endure an entire flight with the seat in front of you so close to you that your knees are crushed into your chest? Oh I know, how about standing during the entire flight? Sound insane? Well that’s what one budget airline considering.

VivaColombia is actually talking about removing all the seats from their planes in order to have passengers stand. Why? To stick more people into the flight, thus maximizing the profits. Translation: “We are VivaColumbia and we are a bunch of a-holes.”

William Shaw, the CEO of the airline, had this to say to the Miami Herald about the upright travel options they are speaking about for folks on one-hour flights.

“There are people out there right now researching whether you can fly standing up – we’re very interested in anything that makes travel less expensive. Who cares if you don’t have an inflight entertainment system for a one-hour flight? Who cares that there aren’t marble floors… or that you don’t get free peanuts?”

I don’t care if it’s a 15 minute flight, I want my ass in a seat. But that’s mainly because I have the bone structure and stamina of an 85-year-old man.

Shaw isn’t the only one with the idea as Michael O’Leary of RyanAir has considered barstools and no seatbealts.

“A plane is ‘just a b—– bus with wings.’ If there ever was a crash on an aircraft, God forbid, a seatbelt won’t save you. You don’t need a seatbelt on the London Underground. You don’t need a seatbelt on trains which are travelling at 120mph.”

Since it’s highly unlikely you will ever find yourself on a flight on this dumpster airline, don’t worry about this. But if you do find yourself on a flight this “stand up” flight hasn’t been approved by civil aviation authorities in any country. And it probably won’t be. Well, with all the garbage that is happening in this country there’s always a chance.
