Teen Survives Shark Attack By Punching Shark In Nose

Sharks are awesome creatures, but I enjoy them when I’m not anywhere near their vicinity. I enjoy watching them on television, or while I watch them in the middle of a tornado like the gems that the Sci-Fi channel has given us. But 17-year-old Caitlyn Taylor unfortunately had a shark confront her in person. And it almost cost her her life.

Caitlyn is currently in Destin, Florida with the Atherton High School softball team during Spring Break, according to her mother, Tracey. And that is why Caitlyn found herself at the sandbar at the SunDestin Beach Resort and Hotel. And when Caitlyn decided to go for a swim she was attacked by a five foot long shark.

How bad was the attack? Bad. Take a look at the photos that Caitlyn shared on her Twitter.

Here’s a closer look at these photos.

Caitlyn somehow escaped the shark attack with her life, as according to her mom she needed between 120-140 stitches. Caitlyn survived the attack because, according to her, she managed to wriggle free from the shark’s mouth by punching it in the nose. Ah yes, the good old punch to the nose trick.

“Caitlyn says she turned around and the head of it was coming towards her with a wave and she said she turned to swim back to shore and she says she felt it just grab her and lift her off of the bottom,” Caitlyn’ s mom explained.

“There’s nothing minor about having to have 120-140 stitches,” Caitlyn’s mom added. “She has cuts on her hand and upper and lower jaw marks on both legs.”

And yet, Caitlyn has a hell of a story for all time. Glad you’re doing well, Caitlyn.
