It’s hard to believe asking a cop in Florida to try on a Magnum condom can get you thrown in the clink, you know, because it’s Florida, but according to TCPalm, that’s exactly what happened to a Fort Pierce woman earlier this month.
Police said 37-year-old Melissa Kelly approached a St. Lucie deputy who was in the neighborhood investigating another case on March 11, called him by name, cussed at him and then went inside her house. What followed was nothing short of hilarious:
Deputies reported Kelly was at a large front window. Part of her body was visible, but not her hands. Deputies placed her at gunpoint until determining she didn’t have a weapon in her hands.
Rather than brandishing a Magnum firearm, investigators say she was holding a Magnum condom. The deputy reported Kelly “confronted me aggressively and came within inches from my face holding a condom and waving it at me.”
“She then started yelling and screaming towards me, stating, ‘Here try this on for size,’ referring to the Magnum condom she was holding in my face,” an affidavit states.
Kelly was then arrested and charged with breach of peace and resisting arrest without violence.
So, what did we learn today, kids? You guessed it: Waving a jimmy hat at an officer is technically considered breach of peace. Hey, the more you know, I guess.
