I think I’m going to start using that excuse from now on.
Remember a little while back we told you about a woman who thought she was “too beautiful” to get a job? Well, this time around a 24-year-old woman named Emma Hulse is claiming she was fired from her job as a freelancer runner for a TV production firm for being “too attractive.” OK then.
Hulse, who worked for UNIT TV in London, is actually claiming that she was fired and sent home shortly after arriving for her shift simply because of how she looked. According to Hulse, her manager said this, “‘Are you a model’” and “‘Why are you not at the front of house?’” The manager also added that Hulse “should be on a catwalk.” Sure, Hulse. Sure.
“I was quite disappointed to be sent home. I didn’t really know what to do,” Hulse said. “Maybe that company employs plain looking people and maybe if you don’t look that way they don’t take you, maybe I was a distraction. I was wearing a shirt and trousers. I really didn’t think I looked inappropriate.”
Hulse’ claims don’t end there, as she also says that the manager asked for her phone number and suggested they go for a drink outside of work.
Here’s what Adam Luckwell, owner of the company, had to say about all these crazy claims.
“Unit takes any accusation of discrimination on any ground very seriously, it is in direct contravention of the company’s policies and against the underlying ethos of the company.
The individual that made the alleged remarks was dismissed several weeks ago after a probationary period and was with the company for less than three months.
I was not aware that the situation had occurred with Emma Hulse, so cannot comment on that specific case.
If Ms Hulse has experienced any distress from dealing with a member of the company’s staff we would like to sincerely apologize.”
Let’s just all admit that she wasn’t fired for being “too attractive,” and Hulse simply wants some attention so she can kick off her modeling and/or reality TV career. And hey, she should come to America because anything is possible here, especially if you look like this.
Something tells me she will get another job soon.
