Well then, I bet he wishes he could change the channel to this nightmare.

Now we know the lady who stole toys meant for underprivileged kids should be tossed behind bars for a long time. The same can be said for that freak who was squirting women with a syringe filled with semen. These two creeps deserve to be in prison. But a guy being tossed behind bars for 22 years for stealing a remote? Now that’s just bonkers.

Eric Bramwell, a 35-year-old man from Illinois, was found guilty of stealing a TV remote from an apartment complex common area. And what was his punishment? Oh, I don’t know, try a 22 year sentence in prison. What the hell?

Back in August 2015, Bramwell took the universal remote from a Wheaton apartment building. But since Bramwell is an idiot, he dropped a glove before he left the complex. And of course a DNA sample taken from the glove matched Bramwell’s DNA logged in the state’s convicted felon database. And just like that Bramwell was found guilty of theft.

But there’s more to the story. Bramwell has quite the criminal history, having already committing a series of similar remote and television thefts in other apartment complexes nearby. So because of that Bramwell was facing up to 30 years in prison. But still, it’s just a crummy remote control.

“Mr. Bramwell’s illegal activity and his history have finally caught up with him,” state attorney Robert Berlin stated. “Regardless of what was stolen, Mr. Bramwell repeatedly thumbed his nose at the law. He took what he wanted, time and time again, and expected to avoid the consequences.

Bramwell will have to spend at least 11 years in prison before he’s eligible for parole. And just a reminder that there are actually people that commit horrible crimes and are given a slap on the wrist. That’s America for you all.
