According to The Sun, a former psychiatric nurse for the Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust says she gave a former male patient “emotional support” and “muddied the water with boundaries,” but she denies performing oral sex on him while “exposing her bare breasts.”
Julie Porthouse says she was worried about the man after another former patient with similar tendencies committed suicide, so she had “excessive contact with the patient because she wanted to provide him with enough support after the loss of his father,” adding that she wanted to “empower” him.
A representative for the Nursing and Midwifery Council grilled Porthouse at a tribunal hearing, saying, “This went further, you masturbated him and gave him oral sex. You also exposed your breasts and that’s how he became aware that you had a tattoo on your lower back. That’s also how you left an earring, that’s how it came to be in his bedroom.”
Porthouse denied those accusations but never explained what she meant by “excessive contact.” Either way, we highly doubt Porthouse will have trouble finding work when the hearing concludes.
