Unless your wife dragged you to Costco and then made you come home and watch an entire season of “Bachelor in Paradise,” odds are Chris Meehan’s Sunday afternoon sucked more balls than yours.
According to the Racing Post, the 22-year-old Northern Ireland jockey was at the Merano Racecourse in Italy preparing for a hurdle race Sunday when his horse kicked him in the face, breaking his nose in the process and leaving a gash on his chin that required 27 stitches.

But that was just the beginning of Meehan’s day from hell.
“The starter came over to help me because I was on my back and choking on my blood,” Meehan said. “He put me in the recovery position, with my right leg out straight. As if (my injuries) weren’t bad enough, the racecourse ambulance came up alongside us and reversed up onto my leg. They stopped it on top of my leg, so I started screaming, but it broke it straight away. Everyone around me had to push it off me. You have to laugh, really.”

As a jockey, Meehan might be small in stature, but being able to laugh at that makes him a bigger man than most. I mean, I read through that story a half-dozen times, and I still can’t figure out which part of it is funny.
