If you’re looking for a story that is almost as ironic as the life of Christopher Reeve, then we’ve got you covered.
A Michigan man fatally shot himself in the head on Sunday while attempting to show his girlfriend how safe guns are when they are empty, and did so after boozing all day with children in the house.
So, just how safe are “empty” guns? I guess the answer is “not very.”
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said they arrived on the scene and found the man’s girlfriend performing CPR on him. She told them that he had been drinking all day and had already pulled the trigger on two handguns he had pointed against his head.
But the third one was obviously loaded, fatally lodging a bullet in the guy’s dome.
Undersheriff Mike McCabe called the situation unique, saying he had “never heard of anyone testing out the safety of a gun by pointing at their head and pulling the trigger.”
We’ll go ahead and just declare this the worst gun safety course ever.
