SXSW 2015: “Unfriended” Interview with Jason Blum by CraveOnline
Nothing is scarier than being unfriended.
Jason Blum, the head of Blumhouse, is the world’s current preeminent B-movie film producer. He has made many notable low-budget horror movies over the last several years, and he is proud to be compared to the likes of Roger Corman. And speaking of “likes,” Blum’s most recent film is Unfriended, a slasher film about a bunch of teenagers who are picked off by a mysterious cyber-stalker, while they’re online. Takes place entirely on the internet, using Facebook, Skype and internet browsers..

CraveOnline’s own William “Bibbs” Bibbiani sat down with the wonderfully enthused Blum to talk about Unfriended, horror movies, the very spirit of Blumhouse, and, of course, the upcoming Jem and the Holograms feature!
Unfriended will be in theaters April 17th.

Official Synopsis:
Ushering in a new era of horror, Universal Pictures’ Unfriended unfolds over a teenager’s computer screen as she and her friends are stalked by an unseen figure who seeks vengeance for a shaming video that led a vicious bully to kill herself a year earlier.
After Universal executives saw a test screening of Unfriended terrify a test audience, the studio acquired the thriller that was developed and conceived by visionary filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter). Directed by Levan Gabriadze, Unfriended is written by Nelson Greaves, produced by Bekmambetov and Greaves, and executive produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse Productions (Ouija and Paranormal Activity, The Purge and Insidious series).
