CraveOnline‘s WIlliam Bibbiani, armed with his trusty microphone, is at it again. This time he’s chatting up Kevin Eastman, creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and heavily-involved consultant, about the making of the new film that is soon to be released in theaters.
Mr. Bibbiani led off with asking Kevin about how he was brought aboard and his role within the making of TMNT, and that was followed up with discussing if some bits of darkness in the past of TMNT did or did not have a place in the reboot. Eastman said they lightened up the script for the younger audiences nowadays by focusing on the comedy and the action-adventure. William expressed concern over TMNT being changed or lightened up too much when compared with the cartoons or comics, and Kevin reassured that much attention to detail was paid, and that no one should end up being disappointed. The end of the interview wrapped up with the two of them chatting about various characters that may or may not show up in future films and Kevin’s personal reactions and feelings toward fans’ dislike of a female character that was tried once before.

Kevin Eastman, from the very northeastern corner of the US in Maine, is a comic book artist and writer, and is most well known for co-creating Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with Peter Laird. He and Peter self-published with a one thousand dollar loan; this led to press kits being sent out to over 150 TV and radio as well as the Associated Press. This garnered them quite a bit of attention. They earned a small profit soon after, with many copies of their work being ordered nationwide. This enabled them to invest all their time into their TMNT pursuits.
This new film, made possible with Kevin’s high involvement and consultation, sees Shredder and the Foot Clan having nearly total control of New York city. Politicians and even police are not beyond their grip, and it’s up to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to work with reporter April O’Neil to help rid the city of the evil Shredder’s influence and presence.
