You may know comedian Joel McHale from such TV series as “Community” and “The Soup,” but you’ve never seen him like this before. The co-star of the supernatural thriller Deliver Us From Evil plays Detective Butler, a tattooed, knife-fightin’ cop who gets to punch and stab the devil, or at least one of them. But as a cop’s wise-crackin’ partner in an action-horror movie, in that situation, will things really turn out well for him?
In this CraveOnline Exclusive interview, William Bibbiani interviews Joel McHale about his unexpected new role, his lifelong love of knives (!) and whether his character in Deliver Us From Evil is secretly the same guy he played in this summer’s romantic comedy Blended.
Deliver Us From Evil, based on the accounts of former NYPD Sgt. Ralph Sarchie, directed by Scott Derrickson (Sinister), and Eric Bana, Edgar Ramirez, Joel McHale and Olivia Munn opens in theaters on July 2, 2014.
