As we learned in the first episode of The Chucky Files, the voodoo subplot was forced upon Mancini in the original Child’s Play, and now he was stuck with trying to make it work in a sequel. Today, Don Mancini takes you behind the scenes of Child’s Play 2. Bibbs interviews Mancini about the voodoo rules of the Chucky movies, how he decided to bring Chucky back to life, what Catherine Hicks was originally going to do in the sequel and how Child’s Play 2 incorporates many of the elements that were cut out of his original draft of 1988’s Child’s Play.
With the 25th anniversary of Child’s Play upon us, and the release of the sixth film of the franchise as part of a big Chucky: The Complete Collection Blu-ray box set, we thought it was the perfect time to sit Don Mancini down for a series of extended interviews about each film in the franchise, and answer all our biggest questions about Chucky. Join The B-Movies Podcast host William “Bibbs” Bibbiani as he interrogates Don Mancini about every film in the Child’s Play series. We’re calling it The Chucky Files.
Tomorrow, Don Mancini will explain why Child’s Play 3 sent Andy Barclay to military school, explains the creepy barber character and reveals who John Ritter would have played in the third Chucky film. We’ll see you there when The Chucky Files continue! Follow William Bibbiani on Twitter at @WilliamBibbiani, Don Mancini at @RealDonMancini, and subscribe to the weekly B-Movies Podcast on iTunes.
