North Korea Up In Arms Over The Interview

An enraged North Korea has threatened a “merciless” response to the upcoming Seth Rogen and James Franco film, The Interview, centred around a plot to assassinate leader Kim Jong-un.

The Evan Goldberg directed film plots CIA recruits Rogen and Franco against the North Korean leader in a journalism-inspired assassination attempt set for release on October 14.

A foreign ministry spokesman has described the comedy as an act of terrorism from “gangster filmmakers” in a government statement released via the North’s KCNA news agency.

“Making and releasing a movie on a plot to hurt our top-level leadership is the most blatant act of terrorism and war and will absolutely not be tolerated,” he said.

“If the US administration allows and defends the showing of the film, a merciless counter-measure will be taken.”

According to Rogen, no effort was spared in creating a realistic as possible depiction of the North Korean leader.

“We read as much as we could that was available on the subject,” Rogen told Yahoo Movies.

“We talked to the guys from Vice who actually went to North Korea and met Kim Jong Un. We talked to people in the government whose job it is to associate with North Korea, or be experts on it.”

While the world awaits a response from The White House and The Interview filmmakers, Rogen didn’t seem too concerned over the potential backlash in a Tweet sent last week.
