BREAKING: Aquaman Will Be Played by Jason Momoa in Batman V Superman

When Jason Momoa was cast in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (ugh… that title…), rumors abounded about which character he would play. Doomsday? It was plausible. Martian Manhunter? Seemed unlikely. But we didn’t know for sure until today, when Hitfix broke the news that the former “Game of Thrones” star is in fact playing Aquaman, and that he may be thoroughly pissed off about the General Zod’s World Engine screwing with the Indian Ocean at the end of Man of Steel.

Warner Bros. has yet to comment on the report, but Hitfix is claiming that it’s not a rumor, and that Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder has already finalized the Aquaman’s design and plans to shoot his role soon. Don’t expect it to be a big one. The whole movie is just a set-up for the Justice League movie, after all.

Of all the DC superheroes, Aquaman’s legacy is perhaps the most tarnished to the general public. Thanks to lazy screenwriting on the “Superfriends” TV series, a whole generation grew up thinking Aquaman was a joke hero whose only ability was speaking to fish. Casting an actor as enormously manly as Jason Momoa could go a long way towards revitalizing the character to mainstream audiences, who don’t realize just how cool the King of Atlantis could be on-camera.

The only question we have left is, can Jason Momoa sing?
