Production on Star Wars: Episode VII just hit a major setback this week: Harrison Ford, one of the film’s biggest stars and rumored to be one of the new film’s major protagonists, has been injured on set. Ironically enough, Harrison Ford was reportedly injured by one of the doors of the Millennium Falcon, the iconic jalopy that Han Solo was seen repeatedly fixing throughout the original Star Wars trilogy.
Hollywood Reporter now reports (from Hollywood) that Harrison Ford has broken his ankle in the on-set accident. The long-term effects on the production of Star Wars: Episode VII are now a matter of some speculation. Disney’s official statement declared that “shooting will continue as planned while [Ford] recuperates,” but how long they can shoot around Han Solo before it creates a problem is unknown.
That said, Ford would not be the first actor to complete a motion picture with an injured appendage. Janet Leigh shot most of the classic noir Touch of Evil with a broken arm, Orlando Bloom fell off a horse and broke a rib while filming The Lord of the Rings, Brad Pitt tore his Achilles tendon while filming Troy (more irony!), and action legend Jackie Chan has busted more bones in his moviemaking career than perhaps any other, including his nose, ankle, cheekbones, fingers and even (yikes!) his skull.
We hear that Harrison Ford has received care for his injuries. All of us at CraveOnline wish him an expedient and full recovery. Get well soon!
