Star Wars and Pinewood Studios — the two are forever linked. So it really isn’t all that shocking to discover that once J.J. Abrams wraps Star Wars: Episode VII on the legendary London soundstage later this year, there is…another.
And we know this because no less a source than George Osborne, MP and England’s Chancellor of the Exchequer, tweeted that it’s so.
On set of Episode VII tonight, can announce another #StarWars film will be made in UK. A #LongTermEconomicPlan in a galaxy far far away
— George Osborne (@George_Osborne) June 10, 2014
As reported by Crave film site SuperHeroHype, that tweet was quickly followed by an even cooler tweet, featuring Osborne rubbing shoulders with Abrams, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and a never camera-shy cast member.

Putting on our prognosticating hat, it seems likely that the next UK-produced Star Wars film Osborne is referring to is the first standalone installment set to be directed by England’s own Gareth Edwards for release in 2016. But it’s also not a huge leap to guess that this is a clear sign that all future Star Wars films will find a home at Pinewood.
At least, for the foreseeable future. That is, so long as the U.K. retains its Hollywood-friendly tax incentives to ensure a galaxy far, far away remains just a stone’s throw off the M4.
