Channing Tatum in as Gambit; X-Men Producer Confirms

When an A-list actor campaigns for months on end to take on a role in your movie franchise, there’s only one smart answer — yes.

And apparently, that’s the answer X-Men producers gave Channing Tatum, who’s made it no secret for quite some time that he really, REALLY wants to play Gambit in a future X-flick.

Following a meeting last month to talk over the possibilities, X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner told Total Film that their choice is now made — Channing Tatum IS Gambit in the next X-movie.

“Well you know he’s a rogue, Channing. He’s a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau, and he can handle the action, we all know that. He’s got a really good heart, because I know him personally, I did a movie with him. So I think he’ll be great, he’ll be great for Gambit, and he’s a southerner too, he’s not from New Orleans but he is a southerner and he understands that world, and you know Gambit loves New Orleans.”

As reported by Crave film site SuperHeroHype, director Bryan Singer is already set on a Gambit appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse, so it seems likely we may hear some official casting information soon.  The latest mutant epic X-Men: Days of Future Past opens May 23, with X-Men: Apocalypse scheduled to follow in 2016.
