One thinks of method dressing and instantly goes to Ariana Grande’s fashion statement throughout her “Wicked” promotional appearances. The singer and actor has been serving a masterclass in how to make a character their own when it comes to style. Most of her press tour red carpet looks have seen her seek inspiration from her character, Glinda, in her outfits. This time, however, she gave her ensemble a cultural twist at the film’s premiere in Tokyo, Japan.

On Wednesday, Ariana Grande made a head-turning appearance at the event. She wore a strapless Louis Vuitton gown by Nicolas Ghesquière. The dress featured a flap detail on the bust, with the bodice billowing into a flowy skirt. The outfit’s minimalist yet structural fit added a simplistic elegance to her look for the evening. Grande’s longtime stylist, Mimi Cuttrell, assembled her look while sharing more details on Instagram.

While the LV gown was impressive in delivering more with less, it was her headgear that stood out among fans and fashion enthusiasts. Ariana Grande wore cherry blossoms as part of her headgear as a nod to Japanese history and culture. Cherry blossoms as a cultural phenomenon are incorporated into the fabric of Japanese life, signaling the arrival of spring. It also signifies hope and new beginnings. Notably, the “Wicked” star wore Philip Treacy’s Tremblant cherry blossom headdress at the Tokyo premiere.

The headpiece gained more prominence with the help of Niwaka jewelry which added to the richness of the ensemble. Grande wore a slinky necklace, stud earrings, and a ring as part of her accessories. Makeup artist Michael Anthony styled the singer with r.e.m. beauty products, including rosy blush, pink glossy lip, and sparkly eyeshadow. Meanwhile, hairstylist Gabor Kerekes tied her hair into a sleek bun that supported the cherry blossom headdress.
