Weird Al Joins IFC’s Comedy Bang! Bang!

Weird Al Yankovic is coming back to TV! It’s been almost twenty years since Weird Al starred in The Weird Al Show, but now he’s the new co-host and bandleader of IFC’s Comedy Bang! Bang!.

Of course, Weird Al is best known for his Grammy award-winning best selling parody songs, including his recent album, Mandatory Fun. Weird Al will be replacing the previous bandleader Kid Cudi, and he previously guest starred on Comedy Bang! Bang!. Weird Al will be on hand for all 20 episodes of Comedy Bang! Bang! season 5, which begins filming this week.

In a statement, Comedy Bang! Bang! host Scott Aukerman said “If you would have told me, when I was a teenager, listening and laughing along to Al’s “In 3-D” album, that one day I would partner up with him, I would have asked who you were and how you got in my room. Then I would have politely shown you the door. Because that’s how I was raised.”

IFC President Jennifer Caserta added “we are thrilled to welcome Weird Al to Comedy Bang! Bang!, as he joins us straight from his global tour in support of his first number one album. This is big news, people!”

Comedy Bang! Bang! season 5 will premiere on IFC this spring.
