It’s been nearly a decade since the inception of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and after 18 completed films and six upcoming films, fans have shown no tiring of the franchise, with its most recent entry Thor: Ragnarok earning well over $830 million at the box office and retaining an 88% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Though a few of the entries have sequels set for after the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, there has been some speculation as to what the future holds for the MCU.

Fans can rest at ease, for president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige has recently confirmed that not only will the franchise have life past these upcoming sequels, but will continue for quite some time afterwards, announcing in an interview with Vanity Fair that they will be doubling down on the amount of films they’ve already made.

Feige also announced that the untitled 2019 Avengers sequel would bring something to the franchise not previously done in any superhero film: “a finale”. Feige said that the sequel will create a whole new world in the franchise, in which there will be the world before Avengers 4 and the world after, hinting at major consequences to come in the final team-up film. With many actors’ contracts expiring after the 2019 sequel, namely Robert Downey Jr.’s (Iron Man) and Chris Evans’ (Captain America), fans are left to speculate what the finale will hold for their favorite characters.

Though the final Avengers sequel won’t hit theaters until May 2019, fans have a lot of the MCU to look forward to in 2018, with Black Panther dropping in theaters February 16, Avengers: Infinity War finally releasing May 4, and Ant-Man and the Wasp hitting July 6, as well as the long-awaited returns of Netflix’s Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.
