‘Stranger Things’ Has Been Renewed For Season 3

Last year, Stranger Things quickly proved to be one of Netflix’s most popular shows as it became a pop culture phenomenon. The second season is still two months away, but Netflix isn’t wasting any time regarding a renewal. According to the series creators, the Duffer brothers, Netflix has already pulled the trigger on a third season.

While speaking to Vulture, Matt and Ross Duffer confirmed that Netflix has ordered Stranger Things season 3. However, there is some potential bad news for fans, as the Duffer brothers want their series to wrap up after the fourth season. “We’re thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out,” said Ross Duffer. Additionally, Matt Duffer indicated that the stories they tell will change as the younger actors approach high school and college age. “We just have to keep adjusting the story. Though I don’t know if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year.”

The other key factor to consider is the age of the five primary children. Netflix was able to turn around a second season of the series before Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Noah Schnapp grew too much. But the series will always be racing the clock if it wants to keep its characters young. Adjusting the story to match their ages would be an ideal way around that. Ross Duffer even teased that the kids could eventually move out of Hawkins: “They’re going to have to get the f*** out of this town! It’s ridiculous!” But somehow, we think he’s joking.

Stranger Things season 2 will begin streaming on Netflix starting on October 27.
