Who watches the Watchmen? Batman and The Flash haven’t even gotten close to the Watchmen yet! In DC Rebrth # 1, it was broadly hinted that Watchmen’s Doctor Manhattan had stolen years of history from the DC heroes in the aftermath of the Flashpoint event. But someone placed the Comedian’s button in the Batcave as an invitation of sorts for Batman to solve the mystery.
During the events of “The Button” crossover, the Reverse-Flash returned and claimed the button for himself before dying a horrible death at the hands of “God.” Batman and the Flash used the cosmic treadmill to follow the Reverse-Flash’s trail and ended up stuck back in the Flashpoint timeline and facing the Batman, Thomas Wayne!
