An Overwatch esports pro has ruined his career after embarking on a 30-second racist rant during a live stream, with him repeating the N-word into the microphone while recording a live stream.
Matt “Dellor” Vaughn, who previously played Overwatch competitively for Toronto Esports, has been released from his contract after footage of him screaming racial expletives was posted to YouTube. In the footage, Dellor becomes infuriated after being repeatedly shut down by a rival Widowmaker, with him seemingly being unaware that he was streaming his gameplay footage to his followers. He then shouts the N-word repeatedly for nearly 30 seconds.

The 28-year-old later took to Twitlonger to explain the reasoning behind his rant, saying he was “having a really bad day,” he “didn’t get much sleep” and that his “internet was lagging.” Dellor also posted the following to Twitter, saying that he is “done with no esports and won’t be returning.”

In another Twitlonger post, Dellor confirmed that he was “done for life” with esports, adding: “I’ve destroyed too many things and hurt too many people in my life because of my personality. Whether it’s just a character flaw or if I actually do have some sort of mental issue, I’ve waited too long to find out.”
He continued: “I’m going to the doctor and I’m going to try to get help so I hopefully become be a better and happier person.”
Toronto Esports confirmed that they had terminated Dellor’s contract with them, saying that they had interviewed the Overwatch pro before agreeing to part ways. The statement reads:
“Toronto Esports has today announced the release of Matt “Dellor” Vaughn from their organization, citing breach of contract. The circumstances of the dismissal relate to an incident where Dellor used abusive and discriminatory racial language while streaming. “Toronto Esports is an organization built on inclusivity, and we have always had a zero- tolerance policy for any forms of discrimination.” Said President Ryan Pallett. “Immediately upon learning of the incident, the player was interviewed, admitted to the offence, and was notified that his contract with the organization was being terminated.”
