When a new iPhone is released, the internet promptly becomes inundated with people throwing their smartphone from great heights to test its durability, bending it to see if its as weirdly and unfortunately flexible as the iPhone 6, and seeing just how easy it is to scratch their new handset’s frame. However, YouTuber JerryRigEverything has now ensured that the latter videos no longer need to be made, as he has successfully created the scratch test video to end all scratch test videos.
Though the jet black iPhone 7 is in short supply thanks to high demand from Apple’s customers, JerryRigEverything managed to get his hands on one and promptly put it through its paces for his YouTube channel. However, unlike most scratch tests that will see the iPhone being tested with reasonable items you may find in your pocket, JerryRigEverything takes items such as screw and a sharp razor to the back of his device. As you’d imagine, it doesn’t hold up very well.
The high-end finish of the jet black iPhone 7 makes it naturally more prone to scratches than its matte aluminium counterpart, which Apple has warned potential buyers about. You can buy a case for the device if you’re too concerned about damaging it, but any scuffs incurred on the smartphone won’t harm the handset itself.
