Zlatan Ibrahimovic has stated that he will make an announcement regarding his next club later today, meaning that we will likely find out once and for all whether or not the Swedish international will be making the move to Manchester United.
Though it has been heavily speculated that Ibrahimovic will join Man Utd’s new manager Jose Mourinho at the Premier League club, the striker has yet to officially confirm whether or not that will be the case. However, he has now claimed that he will have some big news to reveal today alongside the launch of his new sportswear line.
Speaking to press (via Swedish newspaper The Local), Ibrahimovic said: “It’s going to be the bomb of the summer, there will be many things going on that day.” When asked whether or not this would entail news regarding his next club, he replied: “Come along on the seventh.”
This could well be self-promotion on Ibrahimovic’s part, with him being known for toying with the press, though with the announcement of his next club expected to be imminent it certainly wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility for the big reveal to happen later today. Ibrahimovic has been linked to Manchester United since Sky Sports revealed that he was in the “final stages” of signing a contract with the club, but he has remained tight-lipped thus far in regards to where he will play next.
Ibrahimovic is currently classed as a free agent following his departure from PSG at the end of last season. If he does move to United, it will be the first time he has played under the management of Jose Mourinho since 2009, when the pair worked together at Inter Milan.
