The Warriors come-from-behind win over the Oklahoma City Thunder Monday night secured not only a trip to their second consecutive NBA Finals, but also a place in the record books.
After the Thunder won Game 4, going up three games to one, the Warriors had roughly just a 3.8 percent chance of winning the series based on precedent alone.
Only 9 of 232 teams down 1-3 in a best of seven series had ever come back to win the series. Now the Warriors can be added to that list and are now just the third defending champ to accomplish the feat.
Here are the 10 teams:
2016 Golden State Warriors
2015 Houston Rockets
2006 Phoenix Suns
2003 Detroit Pistons
1997 Miami Heat
1995 Houston Rockets
1981 Boston Celtics
1979 Washington Bullets
1970 L.A. Lakers
1968 Boston Celtics
Only three of those teams went on to win the NBA Finals.
Everyone throughout the sports world was having a fit.
The Warriors host the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 on Thursday night (9 p.m. ET on ABC/WatchESPN)
