Robbie Savage produced a scathing takedown of a deluded Tottenham fan who insisted that the club were “the best in the league” after finishing third at the end of the season.
Speaking during a phone-in segment on BBC Radio 5 Live’s 606, a caller by the name of Hussein says that he would “like to congratulate Tottenham” despite having recently lost 5-1 to the relegated Newcastle, continuing: “We [Tottenham] have been the best team this season. Every time we’ve beaten teams, we’ve blown them away. I mean, Leicester won the league, but come on – they’ve only beaten teams 1-0, 1-0, 1-0, 1-0…”
However, before Hussein can continue attempting to convince BBC Radio 5 Live’s listeners that Tottenham were the best team in the Premier League despite them finishing third, host Savage interrupts him, saying: “Stop talking absolute nonsense, you’ve not been the best team. You finished third. Leicester have won the league by 10 points, and you’re saying you’ve been the best team? Nonsense.”
Hussein attempts to back up his initial claim by listing a handful of performances from his club, but unfortunately only manages to produce matches that have featured Tottenham on the losing end of them. The argument is fortunately brought to an end by Savage’s co-host, but the segment will continue to live on in radio infamy. Listen to it below:
